He has been teaching at Art Center for 23 year.He received a BFA in lndustrial Design from the Cleveland of Art.Prior to coming to Art Center,Mr.Smith was Vice President ,Automotive Program, at Designwoks; through his leadership the company was acquired by BMW.

he said~
1. There are three issues of importance in Product Design today:stortelling, problem solving and research.
2. Design is tje creative act by which something that one imagines becomes real.
3. There is advice for people who want to become a product designer:Prepare-draw all the time, become as fluent as possible in English, and remain curious about the built environment.

他在ART CENTER 任教長達23年。他取得Cleveland藝術大學工業設計系的純藝術學位。在往ART CENTER之前，Simth先生曾是Designworks的副總裁，領導汽車團隊，在他的領到之下這家公司最後被BMW購買。
他說:
1.今天，產品設計的重要性有三個最主要的議題，講故事、解決問題和研究。
2.設計是一個想像成真的創造性行為。
3.他建議想從事產品設計師的人:準備:隨時都在畫畫，儘可能有流利的英文能力，並且對已經建構起來的環境保持好奇心。
